Dick Walton, Naturalist and Writer: "Jumping spiders are marvellous creatures. While observing these critters in their lilliputian world is not without challenges, the rewards are well worth the effort. Jumping spiders are one of the few animals I know that pause to watch their human observer with what seems to me to be curiosity. Take time to return the favour and enjoy the jumpers."
And this cute little guy (6mm) sure was curious! 8D
@abhijit In bushes or on trees in the parks, mangrove forest and nature reserve. They are very tiny, about 5-6mm only, and are always on the move so you need to keep a sharp eye out.
I find the Walton quote extremely interesting because it confirms what we all have been observing in your photographs of these tiny arachnids: they do seem to be looking straight at you, with a hint of actual eye contact. Fascinating.
Trying to put my 2 year old to bed. Was looking at your photo on my phone, and he says..."That's a big spider looking at me"
I say...no....he's really small.
He says..."noooooo daddy, he's really big. I like him."
Another fantastic capture. Love how you caught the look of curiosity. Fits the quote. Fav.
A great, big, curiously wide-eyed "THANK YOU!" to everyone. I'm grateful for your time and support. And thanks to 365, I have discovered the weird and wonderful world of tiny jumping spiders. They are such cute and fascinating creatures. I will always look out for them because it makes me smile to be able to spot and observe one.
