Keep your hands on the Plow & Don't Look Back

Taking a little hike in the near by park, I went off the path a little bit and hidden underneath a lot of branches was this old rusty plow. Although it's not all that beautiful it does remind me of 2 things - sometimes treasures are hidden & have to be looked for with a little more effort & to keep you hands on the plow & don't look back. If you want straight rows in plowing you need to keep moving forward.

QUESTION:
If this was your photo - would you put it in b&w, sepia, or something else? Or is it best in color to show some of the rust?
I think this one needs the color for some definition.

I personally would probably do b&w, but fade a little bit of the color back in. Cool shot!

A fav!!! Love this gal! What great find! Leave as is! I love the rust!
January 11th, 2012
Oh! May I pin it, please?
January 11th, 2012
@marlboromaam Thank you, you may pin it.
January 11th, 2012
Interesting piece of equipment. Hard call, I think I would have tried a dramatic sepia and contrast
January 11th, 2012
@myhrhelper Pinned! Thank you, ma'am!
January 11th, 2012
kathy that's always a good question because when you change it the whole feel of the image changes - i love this!
January 11th, 2012
I'd leave it as it is, great piece of history and I love the rust.
January 11th, 2012
I sure like it the way it is, but who knows what a change would do? You should play with it a little and see what you like...
January 11th, 2012
I agre with FaerieMoon and Marilyn. You can try something different and just not save it if you don't like it.
January 11th, 2012
I like the rust colour, but I think it would look good in black and white as well because it has good light and textures, I think it would change the whole mood of the shot, have a play with it and see which you like.

Love this! Isn't it amazing whats hidden in the bushes. I like this in colour, though I might be tempted to push the contrast a little for more definition.
January 12th, 2012
Very nicely done
January 12th, 2012
Great shot! I like how you did it
January 12th, 2012
Wow, great old rusty photo!
January 12th, 2012
So sad it was retired and put out of sight
January 12th, 2012
Cool shot! Great composition
January 12th, 2012
Great shot.
January 12th, 2012
Love your composition! Great shot. It may look good too in B&W with heightened contrast levels.
January 12th, 2012
Love the shot as it is, but it might be nice to see it in B&W
January 12th, 2012
Nicely composed. I love the texture here.
January 12th, 2012
great shot, I would probably try something a little dramatic with coloring to make the rust look a little deeper
January 12th, 2012
ohh, that is tough.......i think it might look good in sepia, but then of course you wouldn't see that pretty rust color.

Thank you all so much for you comments & feedback! The challenge I was facing is the leaves are the same color as the plow. So I was having a hard time getting the plow to show without doing the same to the leaves. I will play some more with it. I will try it in b&w & sepia too. Since I'm connected to such great photographers I wanted to get your perspective on how you would handle a pic like this. I know it's a little over exposed too. We finally had a sunny day but I didn't have a lot of time to play with the settings & at times I couldn't even see what's in my viewer.

@myhrhelper , isn't it great to have ppl you can bounce ideas off of!!
January 12th, 2012
@paulaag it's awesome! I am sooooo grateful! I know people like to be kind & only say something positive but I do want to improve so I'm not going to be upset if someone tells me I should have done it differently.

@djepie Thank you SO MUCH!!! You are awesome to go through all that trouble to help me out!! I really appreciate it. I like what you did to these and I will look at that link when I get a chance.

@amers79 @hjbenson Thank you so much for the kind words!
January 12th, 2012
You might try selective coloring too. That is where everything is in B&W except whatever you choose to highlight. In this case it would be the plow and it would show in color
January 12th, 2012
Wood hoo! look At all that awesome rust! love this!
January 13th, 2012
Lovely shot! Nicely composed and love the rust!
Play with it and see what turns up.
January 13th, 2012
nice colours - I'd probably try for HDR or tone mapping to bring out the depths of colour and texture
January 13th, 2012
@myhrhelper To be able to try it yourself in (a trial of) Lightroom, I made this tutorial video: http://youtu.be/W71C3NN6UFs?hd=1
Here I show step by step how I processed your jpg.

@myhrhelper In this way we both learn and that's imho the main purpose of this 365project. So if you have another photo on which you wan tsome help, don't hesitate to mail, though I don't promise to reply the same day. It's a pleasure to me.
January 13th, 2012
i'd have softened it a bit but i think it would look good in all 3 versions. nice shot.
