There is a myth that Woolly Bear caterpillars can forecast the severity of the winter by how thick their reddish segments are. Hmm...Its not looking good for us here in the north east! :)

In our area we have a weekend festival about the woolly worm forecast who is pitted vs the local weather forecaster as to who gives the best one. I did a pic of the woolly worm a few days back. Love yours.
Nice shot! Terrific detail. An interesting fact for you, although you may already know - some people develop rashes if they touch these. When my daughter was small she held one and a rash ran right up her arm and down across her chest - the Dr. at the hospital said they had several people come in with the same rashes.
I happened on one this morning in the backyard after seeing your photo (great shot!). The band on mine is broader than the one in your photo - foothills on NC. Uh Oh!
