Begin Again

The Hemlock trees in the Northeast are infested with an insect called the Hemlock woolly adelgid
You can see the white fluffy insects on the branch. But as long as the trees produce new cones for the next generation..there is hope for the Hemlock.
Nice colour, composition and DOF.

It makes me want to head out and get some tree shots. :)

Really pretty. You must have been a good teacher. I'm not only impressed with your photography skills but I always learn something in your narrative.

Beautiful capture. Is there something you can treat them with?

This is a beautiful composition. Sort of Christmas-y. We have that on our hemlocks in the mountains of NC too.

So well composed! And the backstory makes me think of the beech trees on the island, now infested, but with no hope at this point for their future.

@olivetreeann the only thing folks have used in years last was this oily pesticide that was unsuccessful at killing the woolly a but killed everything else! They have also tried a species of ladybug with no luck.I fear for their ultimate future..but every cone keeps hope alive.

Beautiful shot, lovely composition. I hope they weren't an introduced species. We know all about them here.

@karlow75 unfortunately it was accidentally introduced from Japan.:(

@mzzhope that is unfortunate. I do hope the trees survive.
