"SANDY HOOK — From the Spanish-American War through World War II, Fort Hancock’s massive mortar battery defended New York Harbor from foreign invasion.
Now the battery itself needs defending — from a proliferation of poison ivy that’s slowly destroying the overgrown historic site."
10 Nubian Goats to the rescue! Goats love to eat poison ivy, it does not harm them at all..But don't pet them! Their fur is now filled with toxins that will give you a rash!
You can see one of the white goats in the lower right image. They are behind a fence and not easy to see or to photograph.
What an informative collage! I miss the shore and wish I could have gotten there this year. Oh well, I guess I'll see it in great shots like the ones in this collage!
