Yesterday you saw a Manfrotto tripod head - a 'Junior' gear head for precision control of your camera attitude to the object. It is extremely precise and great for macro work. It was in fact photographed upside down to make it more difficult to identify. (Please note, this is not actually the tripod!)
Honourable mentions...

Paula Brumbe - the head that holds your camera to the tripod and spins it all about Net says:-->> Correct! Excellent spotting... Yeahasssaaa!
These other intrepid people got it right too...

Interesting answers from...
mittens (Marilyn) - Humm, maybe something that has to do with an electrical saw of some kind? Net says:-->> Oooops! No, but a Doohicky Award! Yaahy! You came, you 'saw' you conquered! Tee hee!
karenann - Hmmmm... just give me the Doohickey Award! :) - Net says:-->> Definately not! You have to work for such and esteemed and sought-after award... LOL.
Nancy Holte - Well, I think I'd have to go with the tripod idea but my first thought was actually the instrument that an eye doctor uses to verify the prescriptions in glasses. Net says:-->> An interesting and plausible possibility! Especially since tripod heads enhance the photographic vision. Grin. OK, a "Doohicky Award!" Yahhhhhhhhhhhhoooo!
Alison Bailey ace
I haven't a clue! I thought at first glance it was one of those hand-cranked, meat mincing machines. I was quite disappointed when I realised it wasn't. I'd been reminiscing fondly about the tasty rissoles my Mum used to make from the leftovers of the Sunday joint of beef. Completely implausible! But kinda quaint and interesting... LOL. Fun. So - a "Doohicky Award!" Yauuuughasa!
Lora G - Part of a microscope - Net says:-->> Could be but Oooops! No, but a Doohicky Award! Yaahy!
mag - If not a Microscope tripod...definitely a Telescope... Net says:-->> Wow! going for all the options there! Nice try... a "Doohicky Award!" Yajjjsa!
Paula Cook-Farkas - I think this is a Dr. Who gadget. Just how did you get this in your possession? Is it a teleportational time tripping transporter? Net says:-->> Actually no, but my photography is so skilled that I am attempting to refine an inter-dimensional Tripodification translocational view splandilizer with phase-transition power connection eephusification. LOL. I think you get a Doohicky award for getting so close to my secret plan! LOL Yeeehhhhaaaa!
bekah bell - telescope?? Net says:-->> Oooops! No, but a Doohicky Award! Yaahy!
Sue Wilde - Ah! This is obviously one of those clever contraptions which has a lot of juxtaposed angles and joints... Ha, ha, ha! Lovely try. Nice effort! LOL. I think you need to think over the name of those things-a-bobby doo-dahs!
Kathy A - Meat mincer! - Net says:-->> Oooops! No, but a Doohicky Award! Yaahy!
Sylvie - Tripod lol ^^ Net says:-->> Close, but no! The tripod attaches to the head. But it is not a tripod. Good effort, but missed! LoL
Carole Imes - The doohickey on top of the tripod? Net says:-->> A "Doohicky Award!" Yahoooooo!
june milner - I just know it ISN@T an old fashioned mincer. Clueless. Net says:-->> Right on one count, wrong on the one that matters... LOL. Nice effort.
