In urban areas in the UK the speed limit is 30 miles per hour. This sign is also signalling a speed camera is coming up. Looking out over this little brook as it flows through High Wycombe the vision seems slightly surreal. But then nowt' stranger than life!

@glimpses - the idea is not to catch people, but to calm the traffic. If it is about collecting revenue then there is an ethical issue. Should subversion be used to support police? I think there are deeply unethical tones in that. On the other hand if people know that they are being watched then they behave. Also we don't know when the camera is turned on. It is cheaper to run when its off. But people still go slow because it MIGHT be on!
