On a shoot in a graveyard for a client I came across this unusual sight. A grave that was completely made from cast iron. I have never seen the like before. I think it is unusual in the UK. Does this happen elsewhere?

We saw many....some 15 thousand.....in a cemetery near my home in Massachusetts, USA. The cemetery is on the grounds of a state hospital, is overgrown and unkept, the markers are only numbered and marked the graves of poor souls who died while in the hospital and had no family to claim their body. A very sad place.
@kloud - couldn't tell the year. Most of the text was rusted beyond reading. Only the most substantial letters were left. The subtext was completely gone.
great shot. Wonder whether it was linked to prevention of grave robbing?
many of the graves inmy local churchyard werre bricked up into monded archways ,similar sort of shape , when digging up bodies for dissection was rife. think of Burke and Hare .. Just an idle guess.
