Yestderday you saw...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yesterday, ah YESTERDAY! Easy Peasy... do I even need to say what it was?
OK then - 'twas a Hinge. Actually a brass one in one of my natural wood doors.
I am sure that most people got it, knew what it was or had an inkling. So well done!
Honorable mentions to...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Lisabell - Door hinge. Yay, I’m first! Net says:-->> You are... Where is teachers apple then? LOL...

Lisabell - Does the correct answer hinge upon being specific? Mwaahhaaahaaaa! Net says:-->> Groan for the joke. I also think you have an evil laugh! Remind me not to meet you in a dark alley! LOL.

Paula Brumbe - As they say when one door slams in your face, another door is ripped open by the force. This is the piece of metal that makes those opportunities all possible. Or just a hinge to the door of my soul. Net says:-->> Wow! Deep. Excuse me I am just nipping outside to slit my throat! LOL.

Howard N - Here, on the other side of the pond, we would call the item in your image a door "butt," but a door "hinge" will work as well. We have other "butts" here as too, but those butts are not in the image of your butt. Net says:-->> Butt, butt, me thinks the contestant doth protest too much! LOL

scooter - Yep a door hinge, I think I am correct this time!! Net says:-->> Yes. However, have you done the rest of your homework? Grin.

Rick Schies - Ok, this ones easy, a hinge, but then everybody and their uncle already knew that :( Net says:-->> the relative uncle, the Man From UNCLE, the carbUncle? What? LOL.

Paula Cook-Farkas - It's the part for my air conditioner to make it work! Now, if you'll come right over and install that pronto!!! Net says:-->> Nope! Not that sort of air conditioner anyway. But I will jump on a plane right now to sort out your AC. What every you say mam!

Paula Brumbe - @aj1268 a hinge could solve all your problems with the ac. Net says:-->> I am on the way! I can't go any faster...

Paula Cook-Farkas - @brumbe So what you're saying is my AC repair hinges upon this?!! ;) Net says:-->> Mega-groan. I have suddenly lost the will to come to America! LOL.

Nancy Holte - I think I've got this one nailed. It's a door hinge, right? Net says:-->> Sorry m'dear, hinges are screwed not nailed... LOL.

Vicki K - It's the brass hinge on the door of the Tardis... Net says:-->> ROFL - A Doohicky Award!!! YEEEEEhaaaaa!

Sue Wilde - Hinge...bugger...Even I can't stuff this one up too badly...(but what hinges on this? Is it Net's trunk full of pirate loot...after all hinge looks gold...maybe buried treasure...must investigate) Net says:-->> LOL - Nicely done. A Doohicky Award!!! Yaaaahoooower!!!

Well done everyone. Some fun answers tonight. Everyone had a good go.

But, but, it is the underside of what appears to be a common household stapler vs the industrial, heavy duty variety. Some might call it one of the first automated fastening systems, others would not say that!

What do you mean hinges are screwed? The hinge had screws in it. Even I can see that! :-) As for today's, I do believe it's the staples inside of a stapler. Either that, or a very advanced mouse trap. But, to be honest, without your clue, I would have been, well, clueless.

a staple will definitely hold it together.so a stapler it is.
