What a gorgeous pair! So full of mischief! Do you know if you change the white balance it will change the tone of the shot which you might prefer. I often have to do this when I take shots with artificial light.
@gigiflower He wore his school winter coat yesterday for first time since March, I had bought it v large on him to hopefully get a good few years out of it.....well he has SHOT up a HUGE amount. It's all the never ending supply of food he eats....
@pamknowler I do know of white balance, yet to know what to use when, this was really a very quick shot so I had something up for today, really I should be drying myself and getting everyone dressed not looking on here!!! Thanks, next time photo in this room will have a go. Which setting do you set to? This will be in auto.
If you process I know that you can remove a color cast often just by leveling out. I have an action for this and it is easy. LR handles this wonderfully. For inside light like this use incandescent light for your setting if you have it. This is me saying I know what to do not that I always do it. LOL But they are just adorable.
:D great capture x love the smiles! if you are shooting raw you can use the colour temperature in your raw processing software to 'cool' it down a little or it would be colour balance on other sotware. Try adding a little blue with the colour balance and play with the sliders, it can produce some interesting results!
@newbank Looks like you have had some good advice here Ruth. Do you shoot in Raw? It does allow you to make more adjustments once you have taken the shot. When I was learning about WB we took a shot of the same thing but only changed the WB setting. This way you can see which seeting warms up or cools down a shot. When I have taken a photo and forgotten to change the WB setting - especially when i take a quick indoors shot I can adjust the WB in LR to get the correct colour cast. You can also adjust the colour cast in PS in colour balance. I did a quick go with your shot in PS and moved the slider to the cyan away from red and there was a noticable difference. Hope this helps.
I think it was worth a minute or two to get a shot like this. Those smiling faces have mischief in them perhaps, but a very innocent mischief. A portrait to treasure.
