You take such interesting pics of your boys Ruth. I wish we had digital cameras when my children were young. What lovely memories you and they will have to look back on in years to come.

@shepherdmanswife thank you. Busy putting this years together to make a photobook on the theme childhood. All black and white! Trying to capture the complete essence of childhood. Try again next year too and hope to improve!!

@newbank wow, Ruth, this is just fantastic. You are so creative with your shots of your boys and make the pics so interesting. Love the low down pov shots with just parts of the body, and the reflections in puddles and the pensive ones. Wow again. You are an inspiration. I must try taking pics like yours of my grand daughters. Just love your book. And a funny thing is that although I don't like black and white images, for some reason, I love yours and think that they are probably better in B&W as they make you look at the subject rather than the colours. Brilliant, you've almost finished it. Are you going to do one every year? What fantastic aide memoir you will have. Well done. x

@shepherdmanswife thank you! What a compliment coming from you! As long as they are little and let me photo them! Definitely plan on another next year. The balance between documenting real life and yet creating images of photographic merit is challenging. Very little is posed which then means learning to use light available and coping with everyday life mess!

@newbank That is most definitely one fantastic book! What a great idea and each and every shot is a joy to look at. A super book to have to look back on. There are some of the most beautiful family pictures in there that I have seen. LOVE it!!

@newbank Thank you so much Ruth... it is superb and I'm full of admiration for what you have done. A classy documentary family album and also one of considerable merit with pictures of wider interest and appeal. You have created some memorable images from everyday situations; your distinctive style is well worth studying for what we might learn from it. You say this is an on-going project; are you planning to publish a year's worth at a time, or will this morph into one book of the children's development over the years? You've also got me interested in the idea of creating a photo-book. Clearly Photo-box can give very pleasing results, but how did you find using using it? Any comments on options, ease of use and cost would be very welcome. You can email me if you prefer

Oh, must have a look tonight, used Photobox before to create an album for my parents when they were with us. But I like how you set yourself a theme and also black and white.
