Who'd have thought peeling paint in a swimming pool cubicle would help me feel positive today? I've been for a training swim, I've discovered a hidden gem. A cold, quiet, 1914 33m swimming pool. Getting changed in poolside cubicles with little plastic curtains. I love it. I love the peeling paint in the cubicles and the original tiles underneath. Today I got thinking about all the people who over 104 years have swam and got changed at the pool. The stories their lives would tell. And it got me thinking. That though the last 8 months have been a tough part of my story. A chapter I'd rather have missed out. For now a journey through breast cancer hasn't been my last chapter, for now the pages keep turning and one day this chapter will close. It'll be part of my story, woven into the bigger narrative but other threads of my story will be centre stage.
ME! ME! I was one of them! And It IS still there! Poolside cubicles and all! Oh the memories...! I'm sure I remember those red tiles! Glad you see it as a gem... and that you are feeling positive. Next time whisper David, 1950s, and ask if it remembers me!
Lovely story Ruth & isn't that wonderful that it's still in use after all that time. You would have thoughtbthose greedy developers would have had it filled in & houses on the top! What the odds of you finding a past swimmer too, a great story there! I must admit it doesnt appeal to me, way to cold fir my liking, no wonder it's quiet but you are tougher than many!
