Rather shamefully I didn't manage a Remembrance Day shot, on the day. So on the 12th I took a little trip to the Southampton Cenotaph. I took some shots of the wreaths, and then noticed some of the little wooden crosses each bearing names and poppies.
One had a cap badge attached and one had a photograph attached of gorgeous young man, so tragically lost recently. I was taken back by the number of recent losses.
I was moved to tears, and because each of those crosses tell a story so much greater than this project it just seemed wrong to pick one above all the others to post here.......and then I saw the sun shining through the glass screens onto which they have transferred the names of the fallen from the now eroding cenotaph.
I am going back tomorrow. Without a camera, but with my poppy to leave it with the others for real fallen heroes.
