Lamps at Old City Hall

I love the olde worlde feel of these lamps... As an aside, would you be inclined to crop out the people and background on the left? I tried that, but it gave the picture an odd oppressive cave-like feeling which didn't "feel" right... so I left it "as is"...

I'd be compelled to crop them out too... but I'm at a loss as to how you could without making it ... like you said... odd cave like. Perhaps horizontally...? just above their heads? I love stuff like this... the lamps are gorgeous!

The size of the people gives an idea of how huge the lamps are. They must be enormous.

I think that cropping the people out would spoil the compositon and they do kind of draw your eye along the wall and into the picture. I am not sure if you use an editing programme, but if so I would be tempted to clone out the two people between the main two that you can see (if that makes sense!) to give them more definition.

I think a crop would put the lights at an odd angle. I like the leading line of the sidewalk and the people part. :)
Love those lights! If we ever do a photowalk in TO, would you join us?

You need people to establish the size but it would be better if you had only the ones in the middle distance. I think the nearest one draws the eye to it too much.

@definitelydeb @carolinedreams @jantan @shutterbugger @andrewrome365 tx so much guys... yes, the lights are big - but i don't recall them being THAT big! i'll have to take a second look next week... and that's one of the reason i didn't like the crop - the people did give a sense of reality to the picture... maybe when i have a few minutes i'll take a shot at cleaning it up a bit and maybe removing one of those passersby...

Those are gorgeous. And I like the people in the shot actually. Comparing the lamps to the people only proves how massive the lamps really are. Impressive!
