Obsession

This represents 4 hours of my life I will never get back. What was I thinking? Oh yeah - I *hate* being defeated... by anything!! :)
Gorgeous shot! I love the splash and the bright wavy patterns

But it was worth every second! Look what you learned! Awesome. :)
March 10th, 2012
awesome shot!!! time well spent--next challenge will be easier, because of all you learned today!
March 10th, 2012
more patience then me... I took around 6 minutes to give up on Mr Blobby.
March 10th, 2012
@bobfoto i think it's more stubborness than patience... ;p
March 10th, 2012
@tklein @slang @sullivan tx guys... yeah, i know i learnt a lot... don't use paper that's too dark... there's no such thing as too much light... high shutter speed + low iso + brighten feature in PSE can almost make this work, my husband thinks i've totally lost it... etc... life lessons??? weellllll... i'm sure it would have been more fun with a glass of vodka in my hand ;p but yeah, i can say i've done it now and move on!

Are you in the reflection? Haven't attempted a water drop yet. Not sure I'm ready.
March 10th, 2012
I love it too! If the rain doesnt go away, im going to have to resort to creativity!
March 10th, 2012
How many shots did you take in 4 hours? Well captured. Nice!
March 10th, 2012
@amandalomonaco a LOT!!!!!

@reemo i'm pretty sure not... the red thing in the reflection was on the other side of the sink from me ;p (yes - i tried to check! am i lame or what?)

@sheg seriously! i NEED to get out!
March 10th, 2012
I think its great too - If I had a few hours spare and the right equipment I would be doing it.
March 10th, 2012
Cool. Looks like glass
March 10th, 2012
I feel your pain :o) Water shots are so time consuming but well worth the effort I think. Great shot xx
March 10th, 2012
well done.. =) I am so scared to try it.. but your's came out great..
March 10th, 2012
Great well done!
March 10th, 2012
great, i would just put it in some other, more alive color. like blue or green or red.
March 10th, 2012
Great capture. I feel your pain. Lol I have spent hours trying this kind of shot and jut can't get a great shot. So well done! :0)
March 10th, 2012
I think this is an incredible and sharp shot no matter the color of the water.
March 10th, 2012
@365slfportraits you're probably right... i tried four different types of wrapping paper and this one was the best of what i had... in my first round of editing i had it all looking like swirling lava which was kind of cool... but it ended up looking overdone in the end so i deleted and started from scratch...
March 11th, 2012
good job! I haven't had any luck with stuff like this
March 11th, 2012
@jsw0109 yeah... in my case, it's pretty much dumb luck... combined with patience and perseverence... with a huge swatch of stubborness thrown in ;p
March 11th, 2012
Northy, you inspired me... I hope you don't mind... I have never tried water droplet photography and your post got me wondering if I could. Be on the look out for my post today.
March 11th, 2012
Excellent shot! Time to hit the $$store for some jazzy paper!!
March 11th, 2012
Amazing! I've never tried anything like this, but this makes me want to try!
March 12th, 2012
i have this kind of shot from my previous entry :)
March 12th, 2012
Haha, too funny! I haven't tried at a "Mr. Blobby" (as @bobfoto so eloquently puts it) yet; four hours is quite a commitment! :)
March 15th, 2012
@grizzlysghost nope... insanity at its best... keep repeating the same thing... keep getting the same lame result... and then just when i'm about to give up, get something that almost, but not quite, looks half decent... so... back at it again! (and this is how i spent a friday night... @@@@)

March 15th, 2012
@bobfoto Haha, very nice Jason, thanks!
March 15th, 2012
You got there in the end tho! Well done. I would love to have a go, but know that, like you, I wouldn't be able to give in until I had got a shot like this.
March 16th, 2012
awesome! i still have yet to master one of these shots, drives me crazy!!! well done!
March 17th, 2012
@harley84 tx Katherine... but after seeing so many other excellent ones, i'm not sure it's worth it for me to pursue ;p
March 17th, 2012
...wow...wow...wow...I'm impressed......................:))))
March 26th, 2012

March 27th, 2012
@northy you're right...great, but I still like your picture..:)))
March 27th, 2012
Haha, after your comment on my water crown saying you'd tried it, I had to go back (way back) and see yours. I feel the same, except I didnt take 4 hours to get my water crown. I could have kept going and done better but it was very much, "that'll do!"
Your old photos are so different to your current street shots.
