Because it takes all kinds... in this stretch of about a half block there are seven visible restaurants specializing (from left to right) in Thai, Korean, Vietnamese, Indian, Caribbean, Italian (the "Eat Fresh"), and Japanese cuisine... out of sight on the left is The Psychic Source, a couple print shops and a Chinese restaurant... also just out of view are a beauty salon, a pizzeria and, I think, a relatively generic Middle Eastern cuisine place... not fine dining per se, but I do love how they are juxtaposed here on Dundas street...
I know common wisdom for street shots is b&w, but i'm not sure the variety I was trying to illustrate comes thru... Happy to hear your thoughts on this if you are so inclined to offer!
So interesting to see all the different cultures in one short strip here - Vancouver tends to divide it's ethnic areas and restaurants by neighbourhood.
@lynnb where are you now? funny thing about Toronto is that 25 - 30 years ago it was so bland... i grew up in Montreal and found Toronto so dull by comparison when I visited as a child... but it has blossomed tremendously in the last 20 years or so, and has become quite the mosaic!
@beautifulthing thou art correct... i actually missed flagging that one... the 12 o'lunch place is korean, and to the left of it, almost out of sight, is the thai place... pho is indeed vietnamese and it even says so on the sign... tx for nitpicking! i will fix!
Great street shot!
Jenn - it was positively frigid today... i guess it's what we should expect from march, but we were so spoiled over the past two weeks!
Which street? Avenue Rd? Or downtown. I am an ex-Torontonian!
Paula... generally the same is true of Toronto... but there are pockets like this here and there...
Lynn... this is downtown... Dundas just west of University avenue...
