i've been rather lazy today... managed to get out for a couple walks, but that's about it... meant to be doing so much more from so many different perspectives, but instead spent an hour listening to random creative commons music in search of inspiration to make an end of year video... inspiration still lacking... think i'll go to bed now...

lensbaby hatter shot is here

I know this shot very well since it was one I tried to copy. I agree with @susale very mystical. Well done.

This is cool. Did you get a Lensbaby for Christmas?

Thanks for the challenge; I've been pondering for a couple days what would work as a challenge. I love the chess and penguin pictures; works so well for the b&w you do. Your pictures seem so precisely created. How about a photo that depicts or represents devotion.

I like it just the way it is here.

I really love all the blur in this. Which lensbaby have you got? - It's definitely easiest at first to start with a fairly small aperture.

@rachelwithey tx Rachel... i have the composer pro with the edge 80... when you say "fairly small aperture" do you mean like f/11 or f/16 something? or f/2? (11 being smaller than 2 in the funky world of photography ;p)...

the problem i had with the higher f stop is that while more was in focus within the plane, i also (presumably naturally) ended up with greater depth of field which i didn't quite like... plus of course slower shutter speed required... this was probably shot at f/2... possibly f/4... but def nothing "higher" than that...

Yes I meant small aperture, larger f stop - never quite got over how confusing that is! I agree about too much depth of field at, say f22, but to begin with I took quite a bit at around f8 which helped with the focussing. There were a couple of good lensbaby discussions over the summer on different ways to get used to the lens. This one http://365project.org/discuss/general/22770/lensbaby-composer-pro-sweet-35help-needed and this one http://365project.org/discuss/general/22977/new-lens-baby come to mind but I'm sure there are others too. Have fun!

Love it. Fav. I don't know how to focus mine either but I'm loving your results more than mine I have to say.
