These 20th centenary paintings by Evelyn Gibbs, were though to have been lost but were discovered during restorations carried out between 2010 - 14. they had been painted over during work carried out in 1972.
The paintings have been restored with grants and the help of English Heritage.
This evening I attended a talk about Evelyn by local people. who had some personal knowledge of her through family, two as children had portraits painted by her.
