A small formation of Aleutian geese cuts across the blue sky above the harbor while the crab pots are stacked and awaiting transport to storage now that the season has switched to shrimp
@olivetreeann Yeah, it can be deadly here. The Mermaid from yesterday is part of the fisherman's memorial from the families and wives. Too many names on there.
Yet I was talking to a medic who goes with the crews, he says the biggest problem that repeats up on the crab boats is Kidney stones from high protein and dehydration.
@princesicita We scrape frost off th windows a few times a year, have snow for a day or two every few years, maybe 5 times in the 23 years I've lived here, get in the 90's sometimes but hover mainly between 35 and 75 year round. We get a ton of rain, 70 to 120 inches a year in parts of the county, 97 inches at my house last year.
what a wonderful capture. we, too, watch deadliest catch and find it to be an interesting show. and your facts about the kidney stones - they probably don't carry enough drinking water on board.
Beautiful geese formation ... and nature just moves on like clockwork. I was surprised to hear that the crab season is over and now it's on to shrimp. However, I love both .. alot. So this composition really represents my favorite foods! :)
@sparkleplenty1 Right we don't see lobster pots but once a rich local bought a shipment of live lobsters and turned them loose here without the thinking of the consequences of invasive species. Fortunately he also forgot to take the rubber bands off their claws so they couldn't feed themselves or survive
Fab catch. Interesting scene! I especially love the unique formation of geese against that pretty sky with the pine trees in the background. Enjoyed reading all the comments. All new information to me.
