Emerson Miller by pandorasecho

Emerson Miller

This is my other Grandpa. Both of them were born in 1898 which always annoyed my Wyoming grandpa. Each time they met he would bring up how old he was and then be disturbed that he wasn't the oldest by more than a few months.

Emerson had 12 children and lived in McKeesport PA and his oldest child is named Dorothy. Oddly enough there were two Emerson Millers in MCKeesport, with twelve children each and oldest girls named Dorothy. They never met, but years later it caused confusion in some family tree tracing endeavors. Not even related.

My Grandma died when my dad was seven and his sister Dorothy was married and had her own children but raised the rest of her siblings too. She is my hero and still alive and wonderful.

Three good things
1. That I never had a dozen kids!
2. That family means being there even when it isn't easy
3. That the stories of earlier generations make us realize how brief and wonderful life is.
wonder and strange story, Dorothy sounds like an angel in disguise.

It sounds like your Aunt Dorothy is a very special person. But in the time when your grandmother passed on I think it was a given that you stepped in and helped take care of the family. What a blessing to have that though. And what a legacy!
