Seed Pod?

Noticed these in a front garden have know idea what they are, can anyone identify them please.

No idea what they are but they make an excellent photography subject.

Hard to say .. but is it quite large.. maybe a spent artichoke?? nice shot

Very cool pods Peter, I too think they resembled a thistle pod but was not aware how big they are. :)

@novab Thank you Nova the size made me think as never seen thistles that large, will visit the garden in summer and see what they are, still may not have a clue then,lol:)
