Smart Meter Monitor by pcoulson

Smart Meter Monitor

This is my entry in the current black & white challenge technology, its the energy usage monitor connected by wifi to both the Gas meter and Electricity meter in my home,
using this monitor I can, track the energy used by the, hour, day, week, month and year.
i'm ambivalent regarding these 'things'.. they are touted as money saving but i cannot see how.. meter or no meter i will still use the same amount of power.. So, unless a permanent reduction of the price of fuel is included in the deal i will hold off..
i can see the appeal to you Peter.. it's another Boy,'s Toy..
btw, nice shot..

@jorlam Thank you for your interesting comments Jorlam of course you are absolutely right we still use the same amount of energy irrespective of the meter, on moving into this property the energy company would not use the meter readings I took on day one but used the estimated readings from the previous owner, hence they were overcharging me and would not do anything until we had been here one year, the only way around this was to replace the meters in six months we were over charged £1,100.00 and as a consequence it transpired they owed the previous owner over £2,000,00, I now use a different energy supplier:)

I agree with Jorlam. I would not use one of these - it would make me paranoid! I am pretty careful with use of gas and electricity anyway and change suppliers on a regular basis

We have one but I don't look at it. Perhaps I should!

@suesouthwood Thank you for your interesting comments Sue, we have to remember they are all in the business for making money and they make millions of pounds:)

@quietpurplehaze When we first got it tried a few things out, one was boiling a litre of water with an electric kettle and then the old fashion way with a kettle on the gas to see which cost more, was in fact the gas:)
