The Mayor of Calderdale Ali Ferman chatting to one of our camera club members after opening the "Picturing the Past, Present and Future of Akroydon" all images by our camera club, (Halifax Photographic Society), this is the first exhibition in the newly refurbished Link Gallery at Bankfield Museum.
The Akroydon model housing scheme is a Victorian era village at Boothtown, Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. It was designed in the Gothic style by George Gilbert Scott in 1859 for the workers at the mills of Colonel Edward Akroyd, who had bought, in 1855, the 62,435 acres (252.67 km2) of land on which the village was built.
@quietpurplehaze Thanks Hazel we were split into groups for the summer project, about 25 members took images around Akroydon, I was tasked to capture derelict beauty so I didn't have anything on show, hopefully may have something selected for an exhibition in January:)
@dide@quietpurplehaze@louannwarren Just as a point of interest each wall was themed, this wall has images depicting All Souls Anglican Church built in 1859 and financed by Colonel Edward Akroyd:)
