Brighouse dry cleaners building was originally the Salvation Army's Citadel from 1902 to 1995 when they moved into the much larger old Brighouse magistrate court building, the cleaners owner has collected a small amount of old cleaning items of the period, just to add interest to your visit, see the link http://www.brighousedrycleaners.co.uk/news/take-a-journey-back-in-time/
@peterlgrave Thank you for your lovely comments Peter, its difficult to get planning permission to demolish old buildings over here if they are structurally sound:)
@rosiekind Thank you for your comment and Fav Rosie, I've tried a few times to get a shot but there always seems to be cars or delivery vans outside but not this time:)
@dide Thank you for your lovely comment Dianne, most towns and cities have lots of old buildings still available to the photographer unfortunately getting a nice perspective tends to be a challenge with all the modern street furniture and parked cars:)
@suesouthwood Thank you Sue, the shop counter area is only a small part of the building the working areas out of sight, but its still nice to see and read about the items on show whilst waiting your turn:)
@onewing Thank you Babs tracing the history was interesting turned out the Salvation Army had a previous building and it has the blue history plaque "commemorates a link between that location and a famous person or event, serving as a historical marker" for some reason this one does not)
@stray_shooter Thank you for your comment Ron , I was interested to see the antique washing machine made in the USA in 1894 that still works, I'm sure it was way ahead of its time:)
