Light on the Canal by pcoulson

Light on the Canal

My entry in this weeks theme daylight,
this is a stretch of the Calder & Hebble Navigation Canal:-
The Calder and Hebble Navigation Canal, running for 21 miles from Wakefield to Sowerby Bridge was constructed in 1770 to transport goods between cities. BoB
Beautiful lighting and composition. Great for the daylight theme.

Stunning landscape. The leading lines, light and two figures walking make it quite magical. Fav

You have inspired me to check out my relative who was a lock keeper somewhere in this area. I really must start family history again.

@blueberry1222 Thank you for your comment Krista, there are miles of footpaths along the old canals in the UK open to walkers and cyclist, you seldom see them not used:)

@louannwarren Thank you for both your comment and Fav, I tend to walk them on a regular basis, I also used to cycle along them but unfortunately I damaged my left knee last year and I'm waiting to have it replaced:)

@pcoulson Thanks Peter, I may take you up on that when I get back to doing family history again. I think my relative worked on the Barnsley Canal and also on the Calder Canal. He moved about a bit. There must be gypsy in us somewhere ha ha. We all seem to move a lot.
