In remembrance of the start of WW1. 100 years ago today and in tribute to all those who took part from both sides, I flew my 1/4 scale radio controlled WW1 Sopwith Camel fighter aircraft, as my personal tribute,
" Lest We Forget"
Great shot Peter.I thought it was the full size plane untill i looked a bit harder.Would like to fly model aircraft but after destroying 2 helicopters have decided to stick to photography & ham radio.
@peterlgrave Thanks Peter, Helicopters are harder to fly than fixed wing, been flying models since a boy, was flying a helicopter yesterday as well as the Camel, after this response going fling this morning;)
@onewing Thanks Babs, yes built from a plan its wing span 80.5" or 2.05m, length 56.5" or 1.45m, it was built as a tribute to wife's grandad who built the real thing as an apprentice in the period 1917-1918. I built it 3 years ago:)
@tracelee Thanks Tracey for your generous comments, I've been building and flying radio controlled model aircraft since 1977 think I'm getting the hang of it now;)
