While overall homeless numbers are trending up in Toronto, recent homeless counts in Calgary – which has adopted an effective 10-year plan to end homelessness – now show that the growth in homelessness in that city has stopped. It's amazing what can be done if there's a will to do it...

What a wonderful shot - I have to wonder did you approach this guy before taking your shot or stop by afterwards to buy him a coffee or sandwich ? I have seen some very, very cool shots that I have not taken because I wasn't quite sure how to give something back. So curious as to your reply. Yes, indeed is a cool shot.
very interesting shot. I will search (online?) to read about that 10-year plan. What a great thing of a city to do!! I heard that Salt Lake City built apartments and gave each homeless person a place to stay. That worked too.
That's a great, and very thought-provoking shot Peter. I think the way you have the sad figure posed against the colourful street art magnifies the desperation of his position.
Homelessness is one of the First World's disgraces, our countries have enough money to do something positive towards ameliorating this problem. What's (usually) lacking is the will. Great to hear your city is grasping the nettle.

Very sad to see but the mural is amazing. FAV
