Lagos is situated on the beautiful western Algarve in Portugal. The cliffs of the Ponta da Piedade headland is one of the finest natural features of the Algarve. I wandered out early and climbed down to sea level to capture the sunrise.

Simply brilliant! I'm working on planning a trip to Portugal -- did you have any favorite spots you'd say 'don't miss'? It might end up as two separate trips, one southern area and islands; one northern area with cities/mountains.
@taffy - thanks Taffy - with only 8 days to work with - we also had the dilemma of which way to go - I did a lot of research + decided the algarve region is definitely #1 - Lisbon was very interesting - and we will have to go back to do the northern Porto region next time - hope this helps
