This is one of the main entry/exit routes in/out of London from/to the commuter belt around the south-east. It's busy even at 7.30pm in the evening.
This junction on the A2 is called "The Black Prince" after Edward, now known as The Black Prince, who stayed in a nearby Manor en route to wars in France in the 14th century.
The technical aspects of shooting light trails are not that difficult (full manual, long exposure, narrow aperture, etc). The trick is to wait for the right traffic flow in all directions at the same time (including the exit and entrance slip roads)!
Many thanks for all your recent comments. They are all very much appreciated, and help enormously with keeping the motivation going!
Nice pattern, and you got just the right exposure to capture the detail of the road markings. I'm rather envious, I like to do these but I live in a place where we don't get this amount of traffic in a week.
Excellent trails. I like trails but as somebody else mentioned it is necessary to find the right place. And the right traffic. The foreground and the background are also important and you were able to catch both. Fav
I totally agree with Tim. I would love to give this kind of photo a try but then I've got some travelling to do first :-) Great, that you've included the entrance slip road too!
@oldmanofkent John, the pub is called The Black Prince, as you know. I always thought he'd stayed at the coaching inn that would be there back in the day, but he apparently stayed at Hall Place, on the north side of the motorway, roughly to the right of camera about 500yds.
i have a project for your get pushed photo this week.
a series of three or more photos in a sequence and put in a collage.
have fun.
