Market Day by peadar

Market Day

I had a bunch of limes calling out to me for attention!

Many of you will know that the slang word "limey" was originally used by American sailors to refer to their Royal Navy counterparts, the latter having a daily ration of lemon (or lime) juice to help prevent scurvy (caused from a deficiency of vitamin C in the diet). Although lemons were used almost exclusively at first, limes superseded them as supply outside of Europe was more reliable.

Many thanks for all your recent comments - much appreciated.
