pipe'n'drum

For this week's official music theme. You've had enough of bassoons, I guess, so here is another double reed instrument - the pipe chanter (with a drum!).

These chanters feature on all "bagpipe" type instruments, where the player uses his breath to inflate an animal skin bag (usually under one arm), which in turn is squeezed to throw air across a double reed in the mouth of the chanter. It creates a hell of a racket - but I like it!

You do need to view large to get the best of it...
