We travelled up to way north of London to meet with family, and lunched at a lovely Pub just by this lock on the Grand Union Canal. It was a lovely spot.
@onewing Babs, that would not too far from where we were. Nowadays it's all pretty cottages and people having a good time, back then I think it was pretty grim. If you're interested in reading up on the UK canal system and canal life, there's an old book, Narrowboat, by L T C Rolt that would be well worth a read.

I have just discovered that a great great grandfather of mine was a lock keeper on the Grand Union Canal somewhere near Aylesbury I believe.
