I liked the shape and form of this collection of older working boats.
For the eagle-eyed, this shot covers almost a 1000 years of architectural history. On the left and right bank of the river you have late 20th and early 21st century housing developments. Higher up on the right bank, you have mid-20th century housing. Mid-left on the skyline you can see a spire - this is Rochester Cathedral. This dates from the 11th century, and to the left of that you can see the top of a square tower, this is Rochester Castle which also dates from the 11th century although the Keep (the bit you can see) is a bit later than that. The Castle featured in many of the seminal moments of Medieval English History (established by the Normans after the 1066 invasion, then later featured in the Barons' Revolts of the 13th C, and the Peasant's Revolt in the late 14th C). It is now a protected monument managed by English Heritage.
At first glance you could almost think it was a old photo, being in black and white, I think it portrays a good effect of the old boats in black and white.
