These banners line a sidewalk in the Southend section of Charlotte...two blocks from my house. I'm sure they were put up in an attempt to offset the downturn in the economy and revive interest in the area. Southend is an eclectic mix of art galleries, dining, and boutique shopping.
Really fun picture, and someone was doing a good job when they were brainstorming. The colors are encouraging, as well as the words, and banners always seem to attract people. I would love an area like that. We have one in Minneapolis that's referred to as "Uptown", and it's very eclectic. Great eating and shopping. Fun place to go spend a day. A very tiny cracker box house would cost the same as a 3000 square foot house in the burbs.
Nice shots :) Maybe they should try something like this to create interest in my home town, although i think it will take something more than banners unfortunately.
These are lovely. Much nicer than the usual motivational signs some of these towns come up with. It's a beaut collage. (Thanks for all your good wishes; feel much better this evening, really on the mend.)
@timhooper - heh, Must be my British heritage that makes me a little uncomfortable with the concept of 'splurging' as well, Tim. There was a fifth banner, INDULGE which, fortunately, was blue (and I already had CREATE in blue). To have both Splurge and Indulge would have been totally over the top of my comfort level. :)
I love the banners and possibly hoping that we are influenced by our environment, they will at least help create a more positive attitude. I live in a college town and the lightpole banners are used often ... for special events and also for pride...
