This place is great. It's small, friendly, authentic and just a few blocks away. They have THE BEST fish and chips. Also on the menu are Bangers 'n Mash, Steak and Mushroom Pie, Shepherd's Pie, Bubbles and Squeak....and more. Happy weekend ~
@sarasdadandmom
It is a great place, Terry. They don't know my name yet...but we've only been once. I need a little more time to make an impression. :)
I'll have some of that... all of that! Especially good fish and chips. I haven't had any good fish and chips in years. We seem to only have Catfish in Texas! Love the authentic facade.
@shadowdancer It has a wonderfully authentic pub atmosphere and the food and beer/ale is the real thing. This place could be right at home in London. :)
Looks like I will have to check this out when I'm in town. Great compostion and nice use of your mark. I have been traveling a lot. Nice to get back to looking at everyone's photos.
@stephsharif
Catfish just won't do! :) At least you have plenty of good ol' Texas barbecue and Tex-Mex. If you're ever in Charlotte, Stephanie, I'd love to take you to Big Ben Pub for some really good fish (real North Atlantic Haddock) and chips!
@smith Thanks, Bob! I'm sure it's good to be home for a bit of a breather. If you find yourself in Charlotte, we'd love to take you to Big Ben's...bringing Barb with you will get you an extra beer or two. :)

Thanks for the comments, everyone! @glynnis ~ having spent my entire life as a suburbanite, I am loving urban life. As empty nesters, it was a good move for me and Tom. :) @Constance ~ I think I'm going for lunch on Wednesday...I'll be sure to stick someone in the phone booth and snap a shot! :) @catherine ~ just when I said "you don't see pay phones around here" one shows up. I'm not sure if it actually works. I didn't see any bicyclists riding up to use it. :) @Robin ~ Next time I go I'm going to order bangers and mash in your honor. :)
That description made me so hungry! Makes me also want to go downtown to our favorite Irish Pub and get a Shepherd's pie! Your building shots are great and so interesting!
Looks like such a quaint little place and the food sounds wonderful, well except for the Bubbles and Squeak....I'm not sure I even want to know what that is!! :) Love the placement of your watermark....this would have been a good one for this week's sign theme!

Whaaaaa...you mean I don't live near the "REAL" Southend? Darn. :)
Doesn't it?!! I'm ready to go. :)
Thanks, Graham. Presentation and placement is what it's all about. :)
I hope this place does well, too. I could become a 'regular'.
