This house on the corner is for sale at a newly reduced asking price of $1.2 million. I'm thinking it has plenty of closet space. I have closet envy these days. :) With our move from Atlanta we went from 11 closets down to 4.5. That required a major lifestyle change. Actually, I like living a more minimalist existence. But, if anyone would like to buy this fabulous house I would love to talk to you about renting some closet space. :)
Glad you've got your priorities right here and does your husband look at it and envy the garage space?! I'm here to tell you that I have one small (and very untidy) wardrobe and my husband tells me regularly that that's more than enough. I've started to temper the sadness that my daughter will be off to college next year (all being well) with wondering at what point it's permissable to move into her wardrobe!
@sarasdadandmom Actually, Terry, it's all the original build. The rear portion, after the group of columns, is a studio over the three car garage with an enclosed second floor skyway type access to the studio. It was built to fit a rather small urban lot for a house of it's size.
I feel kind of sad for that house... She's so pretty but looks like she's missing a yard. Peggy, Your not alone in wanting more closets. My house was built before closets were invented (1800's farmhouse). We only have 3 closets in our house for my family of five. I feel I have to run off to the attic, cellar, or garage more times a day than I should (to fetch things that should be in closets).
That house looks so interesting. Is that a big huge window on the side of it? Gorgeous!! The lake house, where we will hopefully get to move some day if my husband gets to retire, was built with enormous closets, and tons of them. The couple who built the house must have been deprived of closet space their whole life, and went to the extreme! I'm still all for decluttering though. I have very few sit abouts there, so the dusting is a breeze!
@petersonsheri That portion of the house is more like a glass wall than an actual window. It opens into a very large living area with a super high ceiling and the most amazing art work on the wall. It looks like a beautifully furnished art gallery. As one living across the street in a very efficient sized townhouse, I marvel at the space! More like, I drool over the space. :)
@ellida Yes, Graham, you are living in a smaller space than even my urban townhouse! I'm sure you know well the terms 'necessity' and 'efficiency'. But, oh what amazing views and experiences come with your home! :)
@judithg Ha ~ I so remember the days when my two girls went off to college and I commandeered their closet space. I also had the poor timing to turn my oldest daughter's room into a sewing/office/hobby/yoga room just before she graduated...and then moved back home to do her Master's degree at a local university. Shortly after that, we moved here to Charlotte ~ so my days with my own extra space were rather short lived. :)
You've got your own little HGTV show going on right here, Peggy. I love older homes. I don't love the plumbing and electrical problems that often come with them. Though I am in Texas now, I grew up in Upstate New York when my Dad's job took him to Kodak. It was there that I began to appreciate homes with history and character.
Lovely photo. Wish I could live there.
LOL! I hear ya! One can never have enough closet space but $1.2 mil can buy a lot more closet space in a different city....it's all about the location! For that kind of money I can have my dream ranch with horse stables in New Mexico!
Oh yes, the constant search for personal space! I also turned one of the kids' rooms into a sewing/yoga room. We will be moving to our cottage in a few years and I wonder often where that room will be at the cottage. Perhaps the tree house will do. Really nice photo, by the way!
@chamrick It is Dilworth, Christine. A block from Latta Park, if you're familiar with the area. It's one of the few modern builds in the neighborhood ~ most of the homes were built in the early 1900's.
Lovely photo. Wish I could live there.
