We're Not Going Away...

and they haven't. Some of the Occupy Charlotte group have set up a tent city on the lawn of the old city hall building with plans to hang around until the Democratic Convention next September. That's a pretty lengthy campout. The protesters are in the news today with their demand that the city provide portable toilets at the camp site ~ and the city really doesn't want to do that.
Reaching into the archives (10.8) for a photo on this beautiful rainy Wednesday. I've had my nose in a book most of the morning. Not much of a photo opp there. :)
the masses aren't happy, interesting times ahead!!

Great shot! So what are you reading??

Portable toilets would be better than the alternative. Just ask the New Yorkers.

Like your crop here. Our protesters are at St Paul's Cathedral - not sure of their toilet situation!!

love how you framed it! great capture

A lengthy campout indeed! I like the crop here and the candidness of it. Everyone is on a mission.

@cath Catherine ~ I'm reading Charles Frazier's (Cold Mountain) latest novel, "Nightwoods". It's very good.

Great shot of protesters in your part of the world , we have ours at St Pauls & they seem very organised !! I saw a TV slot the other day about a pizza place,in NY I think, providing pizzas for all the protesters free of charge because so many folk agreed with them !!!

Interesting shot--do you think the city will give them what they're asking for? Seems like a reasonable request and in the city's best interests!

@clarissajohal Clarissa ~ the city council and the mayor are 'in discussion' about how to best handle the situation...no decision has been made. I think they've been hoping the group would just go away quietly. :) I have been hearing some statements in the way of 'They are more than welcome to protest whatever they want, as long as they want at their own expense'. So my best guess is the porta-potties will be a no go. But I could be wrong...

@peggysirk Hmm, well, if they start to notice that protesters are pee'ing on their lawn, they could feel differently.

So apparently these folks have no jobs or a lot of vacation time? Is there such thing as a professional protester?
October 20th, 2011
Very interesting times indeed and what a great capture.

great capture of the protesters

kind of reminds me of another world famous photo :-)

I went to hear them and they are the most unorganized group I have ever heard. Good shot

We have occupy Seattle here. I agree with Sara's Dad, not very well organized here either. They have a tent city in the downtown Westlake Park. They are persistent however! Nice orderly protesting in this shot.
