and the visiting Democrats are heading home. It was an interesting few days with the DNC in town, but it's nice to have things back to normal.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
A very topical shot, it must have been rather exciting, do they normally pick your town for the convention? They look a little weary but must be all fired up!!!!
@happypat@lisjam1 This is the first time Charlotte has hosted the DNC, Pat, and no matter what one's political affiliation it was a nice boost to the local economy. I'm quite certain there was some political payback involved, Lisa, as NC did fall Obama's way in '08...that and the fact that CLT did a great job lobbying for the convention. I agree with you ~ I think it's going to be a very close race.
@sarasdadandmom Terry ~ traffic was crazy in the center city because of all the street closures and checkpoints and very limited parking. For security reasons there was no on-street parking allowed in the city and you had to have a special pass for garage and deck parking. But the convention organizers did a good job of getting delegates to use the train, buses and shuttles. Being within easy walking distance of the uptown area, our neighborhood seemed to be a popular parking spot. The group in the photo is one of many who parked and walked to and from the convention activity.
Can't argue with those T-shirts... When we were in Greensboro a couple of years ago there were noticeable anti-Obama T-shirts around and I assumed it had gone the other way. His fans presumably didn't need to write it across their chests?
