It's a slow photo day when one resorts to photographing dinner. But this soup has special meaning. The wild rice came straight from Minnesota in the arms of 365er Sheri Peterson when we met at the beach several months ago. I've been saving it to make Sheri's recipe on a cool autumn night. It is absolutely fabulous!! With a crisp, fresh salad and mozzarella cheese toast I will be in heaven at the dinner table tonight. Just wish Sheri and Don were here to enjoy it with us! :)
Three good things:
1. Soup
2. Chardonnay
3. Cozy autumn evenings
Oh Peggy, it looks just like Byerly's wild rice soup! Great job my friend. Isn't it yummy!!! I want all three of your "three good things" above, plus me being there to enjoy them with you.
Oh, how delightful that looks and sounds. I had to google it as soon as I saw your shot and now I've saved the recipe to make one night soon. The leftover Christmas ham should go well in it or I guess you could use diced cooked bacon, if no ham. Thanks to @petersonsheri Sheri for introducing you (and us) to this.
@girlie Robin ~ I used bacon instead of ham. It works deliciously as a substitute. I even sauteed the onions in the bacon drippings for added flavor before adding the butter. Mmmm ~ so good. :)
@petersonsheri The only thing that would have made this soup better would have been having you and Don with us. Tom raved about that soup and when I told him it was your recipe and rice he said, "We need to get the Petersons back to Edisto". I agree. We need at least a three or four day weekend. !!
