How to Save $150.00(USD)

(1) System failure with the dishwasher this morning
(2) Researched probable diagnosis online and decided that Tom and I could handle the repair
(3) Found parts distributor in a rather seedy part of town
(4) Purchased replacement part for a total of $29.84
(5) Replaced the defective part...Success! :)

Three good things:
1. A working dishwasher
2. Saving $150 on a repair...I was quoted $180 for service call, labor and parts
3. Going out to dinner tonight with part of the savings to celebrate a successful job :)
You should be very proud of yourselves. Sounds like something we would do. A little while ago I have been told that the pool motor is burned... They are going to send me a proposal, but definitely I will look for the motor on line to compare.

Hahaa - and you could have got a tattoo with the savings as well as dinner - I like the way you are now treating it as a windfall!

Congrats on your accomplishment! It seems most of my appliances have been replaced lately except for the one I’d love to replace the most - my range! The heating element went out in the oven and I got my hopes up that a replacement was in order, but alas, we figured out how to fix it ourselves on the cheap, too. By the way, I’m glad you put the arrow over the proper sign. I was concerned when I saw “Tattoos”.

This made me laugh, having had almost the same thing happen recently. Perished seal on dishwasher door; quote of $90 for replace and repair; bought seal myself for $23, took off the door and replaced it. Job done!
