Close Call by peggysirk

Close Call

The guy on the left barely had time to step back on the curb before a car came whipping around the corner on the rain soaked street.

Three good things:
1. Left side guy has quick reflexes
2. The rain has cleared out and the sun is peeking through the clouds
3. Yoga
Well I'm relieved it's the car that's a ghost and not the man...

@judithg Seriously, Judith...I have a feeling that guy is still having heart palpitations.

@peggysirk You see we don't think of Americans driving fast - despite car chase movies...horrible when you realise how close things have been. I still cringe at a 3 year old Adam stepping into the road just as a very fast white van came round the corner - I grabbed him but 1 or 2 seconds later and that would have been that - and the van driver had it written all over his face.

Peggy, your catch in this photo is amazing. I am so relieved that you didn't catch a fatality in the making! Wow. It seems that your speed is as fast as the cars. Is there a particular reason that you happened to have your camera up?

Wow, you were in the right place at the right time! Did you intend capturing these three guys? Great motion shot but I'm glad it wasn't an accident shot.

@petersonsheri I'd been taking a few surreptitious shots of the three guys hanging out in the doorway in the background while they were waiting out the rain...then moved on to trying to catch some umbrella shots...then just happened to turn back to these guys right before the car came around the corner.

@judithg Thank goodness most moms have quick reflexes too...how scary that experience with Adam must have been for all concerned!!

@suesmith I had taken a few shots of them a few minutes before when they were huddled from the rain in the doorway in the background. Actually the loud, colorful language made me turn back in their direction. They were all shouting their displeasure at the driver of the car.

Perfect timing

Wow - timing is everything - his and yours!! So glad they didn't connect - that would have been a horrible thing to see.

Awesome timing, Peggy!

Would have been quite a different shot altogether without those reflexes.

It's a cool photo, especially given the background story. I'm glad that nobody was hurt.
