Thanksgiving Eve by peggysirk

Thanksgiving Eve

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. To me, it's all about family, a grateful heart, and recognizing that all that I have is all that I need...and, of course, delicious food, lots of delicious food. :) This is a shot of my autumn/Thanksgiving wreath on my porch door (door being the photo word of the day).

Three good things:
1. Molly, Chad, and the grandbabies made it safely to Nashville for Thanksgiving with Chad's family...an eight hour drive with two children and two dogs through snow in the mountains and lots of holiday traffic.
2. Elizabeth and Jeff arriving from ATL for the weekend
3. I did not hang up on my neighbor, Jeff, (not the Jeff in #2) when he called this morning as I was in the middle of major cooking and cleaning to ask if I could do him a big favor. "Sure", I said. Jeff says "Could you run to the liquor store for me? I'm waiting for a repairman and can't leave the house". Really, Jeff? I suggested that I could watch for the repairman while he goes to the liquor store in the freezing rain to do his holiday shopping. Sheesh.
Beautiful capture and perfect for today's word!

Jeff must know you have a soft heart but that is above & beyond the call of duty....good idea to watch instead!!!
A beautiful festive wreath...we haven't got Thanksgiving here but I always think it is a special celebration ....to have a thankful heart is a blessing.

Hahaha. Did you go to the liquor store? Or stay for the repairman? I love your wreath. And I agree - Thanksgiving is my most favoritest holiday!!!!

@bpaquette I would have happily put my well planned day on hold to administer first aid, help put out a fire, find a lost child or dog, or even pin a trouser hem, but make a run to the liquor store...no. Actually, not just no, but NO! I kept an eye out for the repairman. :)

Lovely! Thank goodness you thought quick for number 3 - cheeky blighter. I wish we had Thanksgiving - one celebration not hijacked by commercialism.

What a beautiful wreath! I much prefer Thanksgiving over Christmas as it's about being thankful and spending time with family where as Christmas is too much about the gifts and the season is too harried to really enjoy it.
