This is Kelvin. He earns his living by selling flowers that he gets from the neighborhood florist...Elizabeth's Flowers. They let him have their 'past prime' flowers that would otherwise be tossed. He goes house to house selling his flowers with a beautiful smile. He always tells me, "I saved you the prettiest bunch"...I'm pretty sure it's his standard sales line. :) I always buy his slightly browning bouquets because I admire his industriousness and because he is a such a delightful individual.
Three good things:
1. A few perfect flowers in a faded bunch
2. Big hearted people
3. Fresh strawberries with coconut yogurt for breakfast ~ delicious
I liked this photo the moment I saw it, but I love the story even more. You're very kind to buy his browning flowers. I'm sure it means a lot to him. And I'm sure he looks forward to seeing you and much as you look forward to seeing him.
It's so good to hear stories of good people doing good things....all to often we only hear about the bad things people do in the world. I love how well you isolated Kevin from the background...cool!
I love that the florist supports his "life" by not throwing away flowers that someone can still love.
I love that he sells those flowers with a beautiful smile and "sales pitch" that is sure to get him a return.
And I love that this whole situation involves "LOVE" and compassion for another human being!
Awesome photo and such a great story to start the week with Peggy!
