Yesterday was recital costume reveal/fitting for Harper's dance class. All the little dancers seemed sooooo excited about this year's very colorful costume selection. ☺
Three Good Things:
1. My little dancer came home with me for a sleepover last night
2. We have been busy with beautiful art projects all morning
3. We are going out for lunch...then perhaps a brief 'rest' time. ☺
Such a colourful costume Peggy, little girls love dressing up so Harper would be very excited. She looks lovely! She will be starting school soon I would think...at what age do they go in USA? Max starts on his fifth birthday on 13th August that is why they are coming over for a holiday before they are tied to school holidays.
Harper just misses the age cut to start kindergarten next fall. You have to be 5 by the first of September and her birthday in on September 17. She'll be among the oldest in her classes when she does start school the following year. But she will be in five day (half day) private pre-school next year at the same academy she is now attending two days a week. She loves Ivybrook Academy, so she's happy with that. Is Max looking forward to the start of school? How quickly they grow.
Oh bless - wish I'd had a daughter who would have worn ballet stuff - I had to make do with Adam and he wasn't too elegant! Good luck with that 'rest'! I'm tagging @happypat so she can read your reply. :0)
@judithg@peggysirk thanks Judith for that! USA is the same as us for one school entry per year then! She is better older than birthday at the end of August! Depends on the child of course but I always think its a very long day & then week for little ones at first. Good kindy & pre school helps them settle in so well now. NZ has a good system I think.....the new five year old just slots into the class smoothly & I would imagine easier for the teacher having only usually one new child at a time. You will have to wait for granddaughters Judith!!
@judithg Thanks for the secretarial help, Judith. I'm working on a lack of sleep and distractions. I forget how labor/attention intensive small people can be. ☺
I loved your photo of little Harper and read the caption aloud to Ken...adding...there's the difference between boys and girls! Can you imagine Ashton having a sleepover with us, doing art projects (not!), going out to lunch (though he has, on campus where they live) and then taking "a little rest" (another Not!) I must get around to visiting our little Hazel in Chicago...she's my last chance!
@Weezilou I think little girls are a bit more sociable than little boys. I doubt this would be Will's idea of a fun weekend, even when he's a tad older. Enjoy those little girl times with your sweet little Hazel! And though Harper insists she no longer needs naps, she had no objections on that day to book time in bed for a short time. She was out like a light within ten minutes and slept for almost two hours. ☺
