Cold Night by peggysirk

Cold Night

Seeing the homeless asleep on the street is even harder to process when the weather is so cold. The really sad thing is that there are two shelters within three or four blocks of this person. However, shelter rules prohibit the use/possession of drugs and alcohol while on site. Apparently there are many who are too addicted to their substance of choice to stay clean for one night in exchange for a warm/safe place to sleep. If this isn't rock bottom, I don't know what is.

Three Good Things:
1. Finally got around to taking the box of 'Advent' toiletries I had collected during December to the shelter provided by St. Peter's Episcopal Church
2. They were so grateful to receive them that I've started another one
3. The neighborhood CVS had toothpaste and toothbrushes on sale to get me started...
That is so sad Peggy,no one to love them so who can blame them for sinking so low. It's hard to imagine how they feel & there for the grace of God go into,

Being in a warmer climate, we get many trying to get away from the cold. I used to work as sec in an ER. Knew so many faces as well as where they called 'home.'
