This finch twosome was enjoying a delicious lunch of sunflower kernel and mealworm suet. I'm looking forward to the day the rest of us can enjoy lunch dates again. ☺
Three Good Things:
1. Photos and audio from Mars
2. The poetry of Lawrence Ferlinghetti
3. Saturday soup night
It's like he is looking at you saying 'bet you wish you could do this too'. Sharp and great detail. Did you ever think you would miss going out for dinner as much as you do now?
What a beautiful couple! Twenty or so years ago, the finches took a terrible hit to their numbers with a very contagious eye disease that hindered their vision and ability to fly and eat. I am glad they have made a comeback!
@bkp Since recently getting into birding on a very elementary level, I've been reading about the issues facing different species and birds in general. I've become almost militant about cleanliness with feeders...cleaning and sterilizing the hopper and suet cage (and hummingbird feeder) between refills, and keeping the ground raked clear of droppings. Birds have enough problems with loss of habitat, pesticides, climate change, non-native/invasive plants, etc. I certainly don't want to contribute to disease spread.
