Going Natural by peggysirk

Going Natural

A friend who is on the neighborhood park committee with me is letting her entire property go natural...including the front lawn. She is working on removing all non-native, invasive plants and replacing them with all native species. These bad phone photos taken in full sun do not do the effect justice. It actually looks like a magical fairy garden. I just love it. She uses no pesticides, fertilizers, or chemicals of any kind. It is going to be an oasis for pollinators.
Three Good Things:
1. Caretakers of nature
2. Pollinators
3. A beautiful spring day
oooh this is inspiring!

Wow - well that looks fabulous. I feel better about the weeds in my front garden - they’re at least all native!

@sarah19 I thought so too, Sarah. I was very impressed and inspired by the transformation. It's already humming with the sounds of bees and birds.

@judithg All the better for pollinators, Judith. ☺

Well it’s all lovely as long as she doesn’t let it get too wild....there’s a fine line between nature & jungle or the overgrown garden word! Looks pretty now though.

@happypat I agree, Pat. She's the type that will keep it tamed...polished natural.

I guess that's nice in a way but if not careful I assume it could easily take over naturally

@digitalrn Eco-landscaping does require the same amount of maintenance that a less sustainable type of landscape requires. It just utilizes the use of native plants, ground cover, mulch, composting, collection of rainwater, and elimination of chemical based products. I'll post an update in the summer to see how it's looking.
