Project Outpour

This is a terrible phone photo of an amazing organization - Project Outpour. Laureen and Laura are two incredible women who started the organization from a desire to offer a sense of dignity to those in need. They approached our soup kitchen about offering showers on a weekly basis to any of our homeless diners that are in need of a place to shower. They bring their trailer with two shower/sink/toilet units onsite and provide towels, washcloths, and toiletry kits. We were excited to offer that opportunity to those we serve. The only drawback was that the church didn't have the necessary grey water drain system needed to operate the mobile showers/toilets. We got estimates for the drainage system and raised the money. The incredible plumbing company that we chose to install the drainage system found out what it would be used for and told us the work would be done gratis. Fast forward - the drain is in, the shower truck made its first visit last Tuesday, 6 of our guests had signed up for twenty minute shower appointments...18 have expressed interest for next Tuesday. The feedback responses from our guests make me cry. I will never take bathing for granted again.
Three Good Things:
1. Project Outpour
2. The dignity found in being clean
3. A good hearted plumbing company
And now I am crying. What a wonderful outfit, you are forgiven for the photo quality. I can’t even imagine, I am not sure I have ever said a prayer of thanks for my shower, but I certainly will today, and also for Laureen and Laura.

Oh my word - I seem to have something in my eye.... What a fabulous project and how sad that there is so much need for something we take for granted. On the list of human rights a shower has to be right up there. What a great group of people made this happen.

Oh my word Peggy that is a very moving account! I have never heard of that facility anywhere in this country. Food is a vital necessity but to feel clean & fresh gives one dignity & pride back.
Well done to each & everyone of you from the feeders to the shower girls & the plumbers!
You are all an inspiration! ❤️

Everything that was said above and what an amazing group of volunteers you have. Things we take for granted in our day to day life.
