The Chicken Coop's Final Day by peggysirk

The Chicken Coop's Final Day

Price's Chicken Coop, an iconic Charlotte business, is closing it's doors today after 59 years. No frills, take out only, cash only, and the best fried chicken in the Southeast. The line yesterday and today has stretched for blocks. Folks have waited in line for 2-3 hours for one last Chicken Coop chicken box to go. I walked over yesterday to get a shot of the line...the other three photos are older shots of the Coop.
Three Good Things:
1. Fried chicken
2. My yoga class is restarting next week after a 16 month shut down
3. I was asked by the Pfizer vaccine study to participate in the booster study
This is a very sad thing! People would really buy a chicken gizzard dinner?

@bkp I wouldn’t. I’m all about their fried chicken wing dinner. But some people seem to love gizzards and livers. 😐

So two questions: coop or co-op? What’s the difference between white and dark? I was thinking leg or breast but it seems you can have a whole dark or white…
Also great news on the booster study - I’m getting a bit worried that Nigel’s dad who was among the first vaccinated here will start to have waning immunity.

@judithg It's 'Coop', as in hen house. The 'whole dark/white' thing is a little confusing at first glance. ☺ But in this case 'whole' is the equivalent of eight pieces. A whole dark order would be four thighs and four legs. A whole white four breasts and four wings. A whole mixed would be two of each.
I'm excited about the booster trial. Of course it's 50/50 if I get placebo or vaccine. But I was told the study would be unbound a few months in and all placebo recipients will have the option to get a vaccine booster.
