We spent the whole day with beavers of Voronezh natural reserve, which is the place where at least a half of all European beavers came from. In the beginning of XX century beavers were almost hunted to death across Europe for it's exceptional fur and wool (as it was explained to us felt for hats was initially made exclusively from beavers wool and these hats were highly valued everywhere).
Luckily a couple of beaver colonies were found here and in Belarus from where they were reintroduced all over Eurasia and nowadays beavers are alive and well.
Hey! That’s our national animal you have there. Great shot, he looks lighter in colour than the few beavers I’ve seen around here, but that might just be the lighting.
